Mély Üdvözletem! ("my deepest respect", common hungarian greeting) -epilogue- I've been hesitating to apply for a supporter position. But not just lately, during the previous two application periods as well. Yet I never did so, I was thinking I've had better things to do than to lurk on a forum for hours each day. A few months tho ago I got a new job, where my task is to surf the internet all day basically. :P Since the company's proxy allows me nothing else than web/ftp, I'm constricted to trolling forums from six to sometimes sixteen hours a day or watching movies/anime (it's a security job with some luxury). Hence I thought "Why not?". I have time to spare for such a task. -about me- My name is Wolf Koch (short WK). I'm 26 years old and I've been forced to work in the IT/Security industry since 2001 ever since I've graduated from HS and took postgraduate courses for two years. No college degree yet. The country I'm living at lies in Mid-Eastern Europe; Hungary, which is famed for its porno industry. Since it is close to the german speaking territories, english is only my third spoken language (with magyar being the first and german the second), I've been adapting pretty well to written english tho. Others often tell me I have better english than most US netizens. I'm a Jack of all trades. An observer and a thinker. I like to think outside of the box and I also like lenghty discussions and debates with others always considering the views of my contenders as well instead of being a mindless zealot preaching my own agenda. I have a thing for formulas and statistics, altho by far not as strong as Dashiva has. :) -past- My gaming experience began in 1983 on a ZX Spectrum at the age of 4... ok let's skip a bit forward. In 1993 and 94 I've been attending local tournaments of a game called F-29 Retaliator (http://www.the-underdogs.org/game.php?id=1441), a game that truely predates the Internet. I've won both tournaments. My "online" gaming experience began in 1997 with the coming of the famous game Quake, or rather its offspring QuakeWorld, which was the netplay-version of the original. I've been pursuing progamer goals, and tho access to the internet was rare and mostly HPW(read High Ping Whiner, aka 56k dialup player), fellow gamers organized LANs for practice on a daily basis. I've been attending national QuakeWorld(and later Quake2 and Quake3) tournaments since 1998 albeit never winning one until 2003. In 2003 my partner and I won the national 2on2 tourney. Altho the prices for it weren't anything great (2 year subscription to multiple gaming and PC related magazines and an optical mouse which was pricey at the time) 2on2 being inferior to 1on1 and 4on4/5on5 tourneys, standing on a podium in limelight and receiving a cup it was a great feeling and I consider it the pinacle of my gaming career. I've also experimented around with capturing and encoding gameplay videos during this time. Here an example during my prime: http://www.qwplayers.org/wk/2monthsoffa.avi After this my interest towards FPS games entered a steady decline with RO slowly taking over when I became hopelessly addicted to it during the pre-p2p period. Altho I've tried RO during the beta1 period as well, I had only dialup and a p133 back then, so the gaming experience was detrimental with 10 mins of loading time during mapchange and seconds of waiting after each click. -RO- (skip this if you don't like lenghty reads) During pre-p2p and early p2p periods I've played an assassin, a common class beginners end up with and then quit because thinking the class sucks in every aspect. Truth be told I've been a fan of thieves, not assassins, hence why I've made the chara. 99 AGI and 100% crit was my goal, and he had low STR. In December of 2003 I got somehow "enlightened" and started reading rodatazone and using Dashiva's calc extensively, so I've decided to delete and remake my by then lvl79 sin which only struggled ever since comodo (lowered monster-def and introduction of monster-luk). My new thief started out with high STR and really low AGI, I've been considered a heretic for doing so at that time. I also had two very dear friends, one of them who has made a priestess while the other was always into wizards and the three of us would party constantly in places like the old chiv2, so eventually my new assassin would reach lvl80 again. Sadly shortly after this our priestess partner would quit, and healclip alone was not sufficient for survival in GH mobbing for a wizard. I've decided to make a priest. I've noticed that most assassin players would make a priest at that time. They were truely an awesome class, altho lacking offensive capabilities of their own, they've excelled at tanking and supporting wizards. Sadly after playing it for nearly a year ones penis would get really small. All you do on a priest is indeed supporting and tanking, you never score your own kills so you basically get no bragging rights. So when 2-2 classes were implemented I've decided to go back to my roots, and made a second thief which turned into a rogue. I went at it from a completely different angle. Altho still STR being the main stat, my primary defensive stat during the earlier levels was VIT, and I had no AGI at all. Leveling this chara to job50 and then whacking away with it as a rogue in places where most AGI charas never set foot, was fun. Sphinx4 with minos(that are commonly known as the bane to all that is AGI/low VIT) has been my home ever since, altho my rogue being sorts of hybrid now with evenly distributed moderate AGI and VIT while having high STR and DEX. I'm also a supporter of INT on any char. My current dream is to finally reach 99 on him and make stalker. I'm stuck at lvl97@16% for months now tho, I blame my highpriest for it which I've found fun to play again because it went DEX=INT>VIT instead of ye olde INT/VIT build. I could go on and on, but enough for now. -present- These being said, the position I'd like to apply for primarily is the General section. I feel that Dishon has been neglecting his duty other than locking/moving topics. Despite this I do not wish to have him stripped of his supporter title. I'm more than willing to co-moderate General with him. Better two than one person, especially since he is from the US and I am from Europe, we could have a presence at all times. Personally I'd focus more on the topics that need constant maintenance, like the "Seal status", "Useful RO links", "1st 99ers" and similiar threads. I also have a vast knowledge of game mechanics and having played nearly all classes in RO I also have an unbiased overview and general knowledge of them and their skills. I also have some insight of bots and other supportive or detrimental 3rd party programs and game glitches/exploits (which partly helped the guild I am a member of it's success in WoE). The other position I'd like to apply to is Q&A and FAQ. Ryanna/Hanali does a great job at it, I'd really like to co-moderate with her. I've always felt that General and Q&A are somehow tied to each other, so I'd feel incomplete if it were only the one or the other I'd have to support. During my FPS gaming years I was a mod and article-writer for the largest local gaming site. I've also been elected as a judge for multiple online tournaments based on popularity. Recently I was given admin powers on our guild's forum without my asking, so I have some minor experience with the phpBB admin console as well. -WoW and other MMOs- I feel this is important. Just to show that I am not biased: I've tried WoW twice, altho not with my own charas. My friend lent me his acct with a lvl60 troll shaman (how boring), one time I've tried partyplay in an instance (the one where that deadhorseriderthing spawns at the and) and some CTF-like thing with forts. I fell asleep both times after an hour or two, and I'm not kidding. My forehead hit the keyboard/desk. Maybe I'll try it from the scratch one day... altho eve-online has a greater appeal to me if I'd ever quit RO. Also the day a proper ELITE-clone MMO comes that surpasses eve-online and the X-Universe series, I'll quit RO(or any other MMO) for sure. -contact info- Forum S/N: WK E-Mail: kochwolf@hotmail.com AIM S/N: WK Sheik I'm an avid supporter of IRC, so I can be found on multiple IRC networks: - nyo on IRCNet - WK on ETG - nyo on Qnet - nyo on rizon (some brazilian took WK >:O) Altho I rarely talk on rizon, I've been using IRC for a damn long time and have extensive knowledge of the RFC document's content itself. I'm mostly active on IRCNet. My online times vary. Generally I'm browsing forums between 17-22h CET (GMT+1)
